No Lights No Lycra x Audio Spice FEBRUARY Dance
7 – 8PM
No Lights No Lycra (NLNL) is a dance session held in darkness with no teacher or steps to learn. This session the No Lights No Lycra monthly dance is in collaboration with Audio Spice, a collective who hosts sound-focused events for NYC creatives.
They’ll be opening the doors earlier at 6:30 to allow folks to mingle. Before entering the dance area folks will have the option to introduce themselves, followed by a short listening session of an audio piece to help set the intention. After the hour of dancing the Audio Spice community will be socializing and all are welcome to join.
With the lights out you can dance without worrying about ‘getting it right’. NLNL is ~60 minutes of party classics and tunes to get you moving. Bring a water bottle and comfortable clothes to dance in. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase from the cafe and donations $15 and above will receive $5 off any purchase.
NLNL offers a welcoming space for people to dance freely in a friendly, non-threatening, drug- and alcohol-free environment. With the lights dimmed, everyone can dance without worrying about their appearance. Please refrain from using phones on or around the dance floor. Enjoy this opportunity to dance independently in the company of others. Talking is discouraged to enhance the experience.
Due to limited space, they kindly ask that you obtain a ticket in advance. Tickets are a $15 suggested donation. It is important to them that NLNL remains accessible so do not worry if you do not have the means—no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Folks will be admitted at the door until capacity is reached and cash donations are accepted.
