6:30 – 8PM
Film Lab is thrilled to host a casting workshop with returning guest and seasoned casting director, Wayne Chang. Chang is an independent Casting Director based in New York City whose casting credits include Life of Pi (Director Ang Lee), Safe (Director Boaz Yakin), American Dreams in China, Front Cover, Free the Nipple, and The Jones/Havemeyer Wedding. Chang’s recent additional casting work on Front Cover, a feature film written by Ray Yeung, which was first workshopped through the Film Lab’s Unfinished Works program, just enjoyed its theatrical release and is making quite a bit of buzz on the festival circuit. Chang’s other recent casting credits include the Chinese TV series The Starry Night, The Starry Sea, Independent short Film Cousins, This is Family Business, Broken Land, and Aletheia, Tomorrow Comes Today, Finding Mr. Right, God’s Land, Fear of extinction (NBC, Chiller TV), The Wreck (2014 Festival de Cannes), and If the Trees could Talk (2015 Festival de Cannes). Chang is also the Co-Artistic Director of Yangtze Repertory Theater of America, which was founded in 1992. For this Film Lab casting workshop, Chang will select 5-6 actors, based on headshots and resumes, to perform audition sides from film and television. Mr. Chang will then offer insights, constructive critique and feedback, personalized to the actors and also generalized for the entire audience. There will be a Q&A open to the entire audience. A certain number of performing actor slots will be reserved for Film Lab Actor Directory members and SAG-AFTRA members, although Mr Chang is also happy to see new faces and non-union talent. To attend, simply register! This is open to actors and non-actors alike!
