Making its highly‐anticipated US debut with a national tour that includes a two‐week stop at The Joyce, Cuba’s Danza Contemporanea de Cuba will provide audiences with the extraordinary chance to experience what Artistic Director Miguel Iglesias Ferrer refers to as the company’s distinct style that “isn’t just a fusion of Spanish and African. It’s also a statement, a way of life… about the freedom to act, and the willingness to openly express personal opinions.” Highlighting the two programs will be eclectic choreographer ranging from Casi Casa, a work created by Swedish choreographic sensation Mats Ek, set to disco, hip‐hop, swing and jazz, and Demo‐N/Crazy, choreographed by the acclaimed Spanish choreographer Rafel Bonachela, the Artistic Director of Sydney Dance Company.
