Asian Networking – The Silk Road of China

Tuesday, May 10, 2011
7 – 10PM

Hills Learning and Two River Associates are proud to present an Asian Networking Event based on China. This event is for professionals interested in Asian languages or cultures, as well as Asian professionals that would like to build and expand their network.

Welcome to another installment of Asian Networking. This month we’ll have a guest speaker, the best selling novelist Mingmei Yip. She will be there to give a talk, reading, and signing for her new novel, “Song of the Silk Road.”

Publishers Weekly says:

“Yip’s lively new novel manages to be at once modern and traditional…. Surprising and often funny. Yip’s modern heroine’s quest is filled with unique companions, unforeseen dangers, unexpected joys, and bitter sorrows. Part epic, part coming-of-age story, part modern fairy tale….

Mingmei, also a traveler and expert in Chinese culture (professional qin musician and calligrapher), will talk about how she was inspired by past Silk Road adventurers to write this novel. After her brief talk, she will read from her novel, sign copies, and demonstrate special Silk Road calligraphy.
