Saxophonist Aakash Mittal and percussionist Lesley Mok create music at the intersection of improvisation, composition, sonified movement, and noise. Both artists draw inspiration from a number of cultural traditions including Hindustani raga music, Cuban rumba and Jazz. The colorful dissonances, meditative silences, and angular rhythms that emerge invite the listener to enter a sonic landscape of thoughtful spontaneity. Mittal and Mok are based in Brooklyn, NY and are active members of the NYC creative music community.
