A4 Insider: Commercial Casting for Actors

Join Asian American Arts Alliance (A4) for A4 Insider, a new series that invites established artists and arts leaders for candid discussions with emerging artists on navigating professional industries. Held in a free virtual format, presenters will share practical advice and address often gatekept industry knowledge, with the aim of building confidence and community for the next generation of creatives.

For our first installment, we’re joined by Isis Masoud, a casting director with 10 years of experience in commercials, film, and dance projects. Her clients include Apple, Disney, Nike, Visa, and others.

Isis will share a look into her casting process, as well as advice on how to communicate effectively with casting directors and how to stand out as an actor. Questions will be collected upon registration, and there will be time for live Q&A, too.

About Isis Masoud, CSA
Isis Masoud is an independent casting director, actor, director, producer, a member of the Casting Society of America, and founding member of the nonfiction hotlist, a volunteer-led initiative to find new pathways forward for nonfiction stories. Working in commercials for over a decade, she has cast campaigns for Apple, Facebook, Visa, NFL, Under Armour, Chase, Uber, Disney, CVS, IBM, SnapChat, and Google, among others. Film casting credits include: Slim, Right of Passage, Chaperone, Ayita’s Dream, and Empire Vampire. She is also the Webby Award-winning director and choreographer of The Last Goodbye. She has choreographed and performed alongside Nas at Radio City Music Hall, appeared in the Netflix series Bloodline and feature films such as Rock of Ages, True Love Blooms, and South Mountain.
