2026 Annual CPAL Conference

This three-day conference aims to confirm and address the mounting challenges facing visual artists’ legacies.

The 2026 Annual Center for the Preservation of Artists’ Legacies (CPAL) Conference, “Objectives – Actions – Outcomes,” will take place from June 1 to 3, 2026, at The Milton Resnick and Pat Passlof Foundation (87 Eldridge Street, NY 10002) and be hosted online via Zoom.

Day 1 – Objectives

Panelists tackle the core question of intent in legacy planning, examining how priorities are identified and goals take shape. They explore how these objectives are translated into enduring impact, ensuring that an artist’s work maintains visibility and continues to resonate across generations.

Day 2 – Actions

An exploration of key tools for safeguarding artistic legacies, ranging from legal frameworks and tax structures to estate appraisals. Through case studies, audiences gain insight into how legacy ambitions are formed in practice, with decisions grounded in sound long-term planning.

Day 3 – Outcomes

Focuses on measurable results, emerging technologies, and the tracking of ongoing progress, highlighting long-term considerations that allow legacies to endure. Participants explore how stewardship can be sustained over time, shaping forms of influence across academia, the market, and collections.
