Organizational Overview:
Protocinema is a non-profit arts organization that collaborates with artists and institutions to create artworks exploring the shared human experiences that connect us all. These initiatives are rooted in our belief in the common ground where we live, gather, and grow.

Responsibilities include talking to visitors about the themes of the artworks and context of the exhibition; managing front desk and admissions (E.g. tracking attendance and submitting daily attendance reports); monitoring gallery spaces for the safety and protection of art and visitors; assisting with desk work, emails, or research; and bringing their own laptop.

Extra: If possible prior to the exhibition dates, the Visitor Services will also support exhibition preparation with some administrative and exhibition installation support.

Qualifications include:

– Curiosity and interest in contemporary art and community engagement.
– Inventiveness and the ability to figure things out.
– High work ethic and willingness to assist across varied tasks.

– Fluency in Cantonese (preferred) and/or Mandarin and English.

Trilingual proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English is ideal. Bilingual candidates are also strongly encouraged to apply, with Cantonese-English proficiency preferred, followed by Mandarin-English, as these language skills support meaningful engagement with local community members.

This position offers hands-on experience working directly with the curator, artists and director, within a nonprofit arts organization committed to building connections across communities. This role is ideal for individuals who are curious, resourceful, and excited to engage diverse publics around contemporary art and community-centered programming.
