URGENT: Call for US-Based AAPIHM Guest Speaker

Upgrade Inc. invites individuals with demonstrated expertise and experience working in the AAPI community (as an advocate, community leader, artist, etc.) to join as a Guest Speaker. The duration of the speaking engagement will be (1-solo) 45-60-min session co-facilitated by the AAPI ERG Leadership Team with internal employees. Suggestions on topics include but are not limited to: community building and advocacy, history of AAPI in the United States, raising intersectional awareness in partnership with historically under-represented communities.

About the AAPI ERG
Upgrade’s Asian American Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group (ERG) was founded in May 2022 and is an internal network of employees focused on advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives across the company. They are seeking US-based speakers for AAPI Heritage Month. Their mission is to cultivate awareness of and support for our AAPI employees. We own visibility, representation, and growth through hosting cultural events, speaker series, and networking events. Past events have included Lunar New Year, AAPI Heritage Month, Diwali, and Filipino American Heritage Month.

By celebrating the vibrant diversity of our Pan-Asian cultures – both within the organization and local communities – it’s possible to build stronger bonds that impact the workplace and beyond.

Requirements

• Proof of residency in the United States
• Must be able to provide a W-9
• Strong internet connection/wifi (this will be a virtual session done via Zoom or Google Meet)
• Previous experience engaging a diverse audience in a corporate workplace or university setting, with a track record for public speaking engagements.

*Final Selection: On or before May 1, 2024

*Final selected speakers will also need to be available for 1 x 30-min Google Meet meeting with the AAPI ERG Leadership team on a selected Wednesday between 10:00am-10:45am Pacific Time.

Presentation Date & Schedule:

Wednesday, May 22, 2024 or Wednesday, May 29, 2024 (applicants must be available for both dates, final date to be confirmed upon selection). Schedule as follows:

• 11:45am-12:00pm Pacific Time - Audio/Video Test
• 12:00pm-1:00pm Pacific Time - Speaking Engagement
