Tiny Grant is an art grant program started by Lily and Lucy in 2025. It gives cash grants to artists based in New York City.

Lily and Lucy, close friends since their first week of college, are both immigrants bonded by a deep passion for the arts. Lily is a visual artist who specializes in drawing and painting, has created murals, and works professionally as a UX Program Manager in tech. Lucy is a classically trained pianist and ballerina who began performing at the age of three and has since explored other dance styles as well as improv and comedy; professionally, she is a general partner at a venture fund focused on early-stage investments in science and technology. Their personal artistic journeys and shared experiences inspired them to create a supportive initiative for emerging artists.

They launched Tiny Grant in 2025 with a six-month pilot grant program, running from January to June 2025, to support 6 artists across various creative fields, including visual, performing, and literary arts. The program is designed for artists pursuing full-time creative careers who are in significant need of support. Grantees receive the full grant amount at the start of the program, along with two check-ins throughout the duration, and the experience concludes with a celebratory gathering. Lily and Lucy hope this program will offer meaningful encouragement and resources to artists navigating the challenges of building a career in the arts.

The 2026 program will run for six months (January to June). Grantees will receive the full grant amount at the start of the program, with two check-ins every two months. The program will culminate in a gathering and celebration with all grantees and a small group of friends.

Requirements

Tiny Grants aim to award grants to 6-8 artists based in New York City who are in the greatest need of support and whose artistic visions resonate with us. Artists in any creative field, including visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, design, and others are welcome to apply. The specific grant amount will be determined based on the number of artists selected to receive the grant this year.
