This annual fellowship program is dedicated to supporting trans, non-binary, and femme identified artists working at the intersection of performance and technology. With a focus on artists of color, this program offers studio space, technical resources, training, and mentorship to a small cohort of early-career artists for the exploration, development, and expansion of a new process or work. The lab culminates in a series of in-process showings that invite our community into a conversation on process and innovation.
We are currently accepting applications to our second annual Hybrid Arts Lab. This year’s program will remotely convene a cohort of 2-4 artists for three months this fall. Perspective fellows are invited to submit an application by August 31, 2020 (for notification September 4, 2020). The lab will commence on September 14th and fellows will receive resources and support to develop an artwork bridging performance and technology. Support will include: equipment kits (delivered to individual fellows), mentorship and guidance from Founding Artistic Director Ruben Polendo, training for creative use of hardware and software tools for in-person and streamed performance, and an unrestricted $1,000 stipend. The fellows will share excerpts of their work and process online from December 7-11, 2020.
