The International Summer Program is an exceptional residency that brings 20 artists together for four weeks at The Watermill Center. During the program, artists will develop installations and performances in a communal and experimental environment. The artists – from different fields, countries, and backgrounds – will share meals, exchange ideas, collaborate with one another, attend workshops, and participate in the daily life of the Center. The program dates are July 5 - August 2, 2026.

Requirements

The program is open to national and international artists 18+ years of age. A variety of disciplines are accepted, including, but not limited to: visual arts, media/new genre, performance, architecture, film/video, literature, theater, dance, interdisciplinary arts, and music composition.

Working knowledge of English is helpful for international artists, as an interpreter will not be provided.

Application Instructions

Applications are accepted through the online portal, SlideRoom, https://watermillcenter.slideroom.com. SlideRoom will lead you through the required questions, attachments, and media uploads. This includes a project proposal that must be uploaded for each applicant.

All artists, including performers, should submit a project proposal with their application. Even artists who do not typically propose self-driven projects are encouraged to imagine a project that will give the selection committee a sense of their creative interests and commitments
