The Movement’s Monologue SLAM #ThatsMyJAM is back! The SLAM challenges participants to perform their favorite song lyrics as monologues as they vie for a cash prize and the title of Monologue SLAM Champ. This one of a kind event showcases some of New York’s hottest up-and-coming talent amidst an enthusiastic crowd and industry heavy-hitters. The playful competition goes down at Harlem bar and cafe, Silvana, with delicious eats and drinks for purchase and a DJ to keep us grooving. Be there to hear your favorite tunes like you’ve never heard them before.
The Monologue Slam will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 5pm at Silvana in Harlem. There will be three rounds, each marked by a different song category. After each round, a panel of industry judges will vote to decide which actors proceed to the next round. The winner will receive a cash prize and other exciting industry perks.
Requirements
- This is an in-person event. Please ensure you are available for the Sunday, April 21st event.
- Open to performers based in the tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT). Transportation is not provided.
- In preparation for this event, all participating actors will be offered a private coaching session with The Movement’s artistic leadership.
- This event requires actors to speak song lyrics as a monologue. The song cannot be sung.
