The Bergman Prize awards $10,000 and publication to the author of a first or second collection of poetry.

In the prize’s inaugural year, the winning manuscript will be selected by poet Louise Glück and published by Changes.

Changes is a nonprofit publisher based in New York City, dedicated to supporting poets early in their careers. The press was established in 2020 and operates as a charitable program of the Bergman Foundation. Named in memory of Judson and Susan Bergman, the Bergman Prize book series is published in partnership with Hat & Beard Press to produce finely crafted editions of contemporary poetry.

Application Instructions

Submissions will be open from January 1, 2021 through March 1, 2021.
