The Bronx Council on the Arts is seeking two artists with teaching experience to lead 12-week workshops in collaboration with Bronx-based community organizations. The program aims to engage Bronx communities with the benefits of creative expression. Successful candidates will have experience teaching and working with under-served communities, and will possess a passion for arts education. Must be a resident of the Bronx to apply.

The program provides selected artists with a stipend in the amount of $2,000 in exchange for the creation and delivery of arts programming. Programming will be selected based on preferences determined by the organizations hosting the residencies, based on on the wants and needs of the communities they serve. Selected artists will work with the matched organization to further define project goals and coordinate a schedule for residency activities and use of facilities.

Participating Organizations
Teaching artists are welcome to apply to one or both organizations. The following organizations are participating in the 2020 Artist Residency Program:

Destination Tomorrow:
Destination Tomorrow is a grassroots agency located in the South Bronx that provides services to and for the LGBTQ community through community talks, open hours, health and wellness services, and arts programming.

Casa De Cariño:

NAICA’s Casa de Cariño/ House of Love Transitional Housing Program provides comprehensive case management services on an individual basis to 200 elderly homeless women; helping residents restore and rebuild their lives while managing their housing crises.
