Studio Assistant

Scattered Kind is a NYC-based tufting studio offering hands-on rug tufting workshops and producing custom rugs for individuals, brands, and commercial spaces. We’re looking for seasonal, on-call studio assistants to support workshops and studio operations during busy periods.

This role is best suited for someone with a flexible schedule who is comfortable being called in as needed, and who enjoys hands-on, studio-based work.

Role Type:
- Seasonal, on-call, part-time
- Shifts scheduled as needed, based on workshop volume
- Weekend availability required (Sat/Sun are our busiest days)
- Ideal for freelancers, students, or those seeking supplemental income

Responsibilities:
- Assist with setup and breakdown of tufting workshops
- Prepare materials ahead of workshops
- Support instructors and customers during workshops when needed
- Maintain studio cleanliness and organization during and after sessions
- Assist with basic rug finishing tasks (shaving, gluing)
- Help with inventory organization and restocking

Compensation:
The compensation for this role is $17/hr.

Requirements

• Comfortable standing for long periods and doing light physical work
• Willingness to get messy (glue, yarn, dust)
• Calm and helpful during busy workshops
• Able to follow instructions and studio processes consistently
• Must be able to commute reliably to Long Island City

Nice to Have (Not Required):
- Experience in studios, workshops, events, or retail
- Interest in art, design, or crafts
- Familiarity with tufting, textiles, or fabrication
