Title: Senior Marketing Manager, Marketing Department, Advancement Division

Type: Full Time, Exempt

Reports To: Chief Advancement Officer

Direct Reports: Publication and Graphic Design Manager; Assistant Marketing Manager, Marketing Coordinator; Digital Content Specialist, and Web Designer

Salary: 75,000 – 85,000

Purpose: To direct the marketing, communications and design functions, providing vision for and developing, implementing, and assessing a strategic, integrated, and accessible marketing and communications program utilizing equitable language to support the Museum’s attendance, earned and contributed revenue, and other institutional initiatives in support of WAM’s mission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working collaboratively across the Museum develop and shape strategy for overall museum messaging and programming
Manage staff executing marketing, communications, and design plans and ensure deadlines and budgets are met; develop and recommend annual departmental budget, ensuring budgets are properly allocated to maximize the Museum’s presence and support the Museum’s goals
Develop and implement creative advertising strategies across all media, and provide strategic guidance, writing and execution on the Museum’s digital communications channels, including its web site, electronic newsletters and social media
Serve as communications officer for the Museum, including primary spokesperson and media contact; write or direct the writing and dissemination of press releases to regional and local media
Serve as editor-in-chief of ACCESS Magazine; lead a cross-Museum team to develop an annual editorial calendar, provide original writing for magazine content, edit articles, and oversee the magazine design; oversee advertisement sales and balance the Museum’s interests with the needs of the advertisers
Working with internal constituents develop marketing strategies for revenue centers
Direct activities of third-party communications agency and other consultants
Ensure the accumulation, analysis, interpretation, and application of market intelligence
Ensure the quantification of ROI achieved from the investments made in marketing, communications and design and constantly evolve efforts to garner greater efficiency and effectiveness based on reach, frequency, spend, and visitation
Oversee advertising and media services contracts with vendors; implement plan for annual advertising buys and management of advertising schedules to support annual marketing plan
Contribute to and support the WAM strategic plan, annual priorities, and institutional initiatives
Lead and/or participate in project teams as assigned
Represent the Museum within the community on a variety of informal and structured committees, work teams and networks

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated experience developing marketing and communication strategies to meet organizational goals and mission
Knowledge of audience development trends and strategies
Experience successfully managing a team
Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, negotiating, and influencing skills
Ability to set and meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Understanding of administrative principles and methods, including goal setting and program development and implementation
Knowledge of non-profit, arts, market research practices and cultural marketing practices
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; mastery of grammar and attention to detail
Strong project management experience with direct and indirect marketing, marketing collateral production, and campaign development
Highly driven, self-motivated with strong work ethic
Embraces and promotes diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion initiatives

REQUIREMENTS

Five years of experience in a related field and two years supervisory experience

EDUCATION

BA in related field or equivalent work experience required. MA preferred.
