Haruka Kokaze, a research assistant at Dr. Lisa Suzuki’s lab at NYU, is asking for your assistance in recruiting participants for their team’s Asian Americans x Racial Discrimination research. As an evaluation study of Dr. Robert Carter, Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Education at Columbia, Dr. Suzuki and the team are examining the emotional impact of racial encounters and how Asian Americans are affected by racial discrimination in terms of psychological and/or emotional reactions. The research is approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) and funded by NYU.
Individuals will be asked to complete a short demographic survey and a series of scales focusing on encounters of racial discrimination, perceived stress, racial identity, and mental health status. They ask for your support given the current racial dynamics in our country and more specifically how the pandemic has impacted racial incidents targeting Asian Americans. Participation in the study is voluntary and there will be no consequences should an individual choose not to participate or withdraw from the study.
