Rodeph Sholom School is an independent Reform Jewish school serving students from Nursery through 8th Grade. Their mission is to develop each student’s love of learning and sense of responsibility to themselves and their community through meaningful experiences and intellectual exploration. The education at Rodeph Sholom School inspires today’s curious learners to become tomorrow’s purpose-driven leaders.
Qualified artists and designers are invited to submit proposals for the creation of an outdoor elephant-themed art piece to be installed in their playground. This installation should serve as a visually captivating centerpiece that inspires creativity and joy, featuring a mother elephant and two elephant calves in remembrance of a beloved Early Childhood educator and her children.
Project Objectives
The elephant art piece should:
- Be visually engaging for Pre-K and Kindergarten children (ages 3 to 6) and families.
- Enhance the playground’s aesthetic and create a sense of wonder.
- Be durable, weather-resistant, and safe for public interaction.
- Be designed for site-specific installation–possibly standing or wall-mounted on wood or brick.
Scope of Work
The selected artist/designer will:
- Design an original outdoor elephant-themed art piece.
- Ensure the piece is constructed using durable, sustainable materials suitable for outdoor use.
- Collaborate with Rodeph Sholom School and relevant stakeholders throughout the process to ensure the design meets expectations and site requirements.
- Provide proposed project timeline with deliverables, subject to approval by Rodeph Sholom School.
- Oversee fabrication of the design.
Budget
The budget for this project is $10,000 to $15,000. Proposals should include a detailed breakdown of costs, including materials, labor, transportation, and installation.
Requirements
Proposal RequirementsArtists/designers must include the following in their submission:
- Concept Statement: A description of the proposed design, including inspiration and how it aligns with the playground’s purpose.
- Design Renderings: Visual representations (sketches, digital renderings) of the proposed piece.
- Budget Estimate: Detailed cost breakdown.
- Timeline: Estimated project schedule, including design, fabrication, and installation phases.
- Portfolio: Examples of previous outdoor art installations or similar projects.
- Resume/Bio: Background information on the artist or design team.
