The Rock Workshop is seeking builders/fabricators for ongoing, paid contracting work, operating out of their Long Island City workshop.
They are seeking fabricators with experience in any, or all, of the following areas:
- Foam and glue fabrication.
- Molding and casting fabrication.
- Sculpting and painting.
- Mechanism design and maintenance (kinetic / manual).
- Puppet / character design.
Projects will include designing and building puppets and props for the stage, including imbedded, hand-operated mechanisms, as well as direct replication of existing puppets and props. Other work will involve repairs/refurbishment, and general maintenance of existing puppets and props.
The scope of work can be wide-ranging, and will involve the use of a variety of build materials and tools. Training / instruction will be provided, and you will be supported by their existing staff as you learn how we operate.
There will be recurring, ongoing work for the right candidates, ranging up to full 40-hour weeks, depending on need. Their hours of operation are 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM weekdays, with occasional weekend work, if required.
Pay is commensurate to experience; competitive rates offered.
Requirements
They are seeking enthusiastic, efficient workers, who can work well within a small team, assume project leadership responsibilities, and who respond well to artistic input and direction. Time and budget management is of high importance, and experience in managing projects from a timeline and budget standpoint will be valued. Organization and attention to detail is critical.
There is an element of design and development involved in their work, both creative and technical, and they are particularly seeking candidates who can think creatively, and find out-of-the-box solutions to problems.
