Look at Art. Get Paid. (LAAGP) is a socially engaged art program founded by artists Maia Chao and Josephine Devanbu. LAAGP pays people who don’t visit art museums to come as critics of the institution. Through cash payment, the program facilitates a reversal in flows of knowledge and capital, bringing new energy to discussions about equity in museums by investing in the expertise of those who haven’t been served by them. In 2020-2021, LAAGP is partnering with the Massachusetts Cultural Council to launch a pilot program via the Universal Participation Initiative (UP) across a cohort of three art museums in Massachusetts.

The Position: The Program Coordinator will join LAAGP’s co-founders as an equal collaborator who will also serve in an administrative and coordinating role across the entire project. The Program Manager will work closely with other part-time LAAGP team members, who will each serve as a point person for one of the cohort museums. The Program Coordinator will have an eye on the big picture strategy and goals of the program, making sure that each museum site is progressing and meeting appropriate benchmarks.

The ideal candidate would work remotely from the Boston MA or Providence RI areas, with ability to join scheduled in-person meetings in Providence or Boston. The position requires some flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for programming, as well as the ability to travel with occasional overnights at museum sites.

Commitment and Pay: This is a non-benefited part time role at an approximate 20-25/hours per week for 18 months, with the possibility of increasing the hours to full time. We are looking for someone to begin ASAP who can commit to the full projected schedule of the program, which runs until Fall 2021. Please only apply if you are able to commit to the full run of the project. The Coordinator will be paid a part time salary equivalent of $20-25/hour, which is negotiable.
