BRIC is the leading presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, and one of the largest in New York City. We present and incubate work by artists and media-makers who reflect the diversity that surrounds us. Some of BRIC’s most acclaimed programs include the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival at the Prospect Park Bandshell; path-breaking media initiatives including BRIC TV; a renowned contemporary art exhibition series; education and other vital programs at our main venue, BRIC House, and throughout Brooklyn. BRIC programs reach hundreds of thousands of people each year.

Purpose of Position: Reporting to the Director of Production and the Executive Producer, the Production Manager will work alongside all production staff to oversee the site build and production of a wide range of culturally diverse music, dance and multi-media performances at the Prospect Park Bandshell mid-May thru mid-August. The PM will meet or exceed the production and technical requirements for all events at the Bandshell; ensure high safety standards, high-quality production values, and excellent artist/audience experiences.

Major responsibilities include:

-Lead production staff and work as part of a large venue technical team committed to high-level production values and safety; and a positive artist, audience and co-worker experience.
-Manage the “how and why” of all rigging, lighting, audio, video, scenic, carpentry and labor for same.
-Employ and share best practices with production interns, apprentices and professional production staff.
-Maintain high safety standards and preventive equipment maintenance.
-Work with vendors, suppliers, performers’ technicians and third-party clients to ensure overall success of every production.
-Brainstorming with team about creative solutions to save time and money, or will enhance the overall goal of the production.
-Meet regularly with internal and external teams.
-Execute all performances with the highest production values.
-Ensure all production staff sign in/out on time and have clear, positive direction.

Desired Qualifications:

-5-8 years’ professional work experience in live event, entertainment, live theater, touring, concert, and/or production experience, preferably in large venues.
-B.A. or B.F.A. in technical theater or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
-OSHA 30-hour safety training
-ETCP Certification

Desired Experience/Skills

-Strong leadership, decision-making, organizational and problem solving skills.
-Ability to lead a team of production professionals, apprentices and interns; and work as a team member.
-Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diplomacy and tact with artists and coworkers.
-Demonstrated broad and deep knowledge of theater production and entertainment technology including the latest developments in lighting and design, sound reinforcement and recording, video sources and projection, rigging, carpentry, properties and stagecraft.
-Familiarity with standard theater/production policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
-Knowledge of safety standards for local, state, OSHA, and other federal guidelines.
-Fire Guard and CPR certification and a basic knowledge of first aid.
-Willingness to work irregular hours including nights and weekends on a regular basis.
-Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
-Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and make sound decisions on deadline.
-Business and technical software proficient, especially with MS Office Suite, Vectorworks or AutoCad.

Schedule & Compensation

Mid-March thru April: Occasional email engagement, office visits/meetings.

May: Onsite Mon thru Friday 9am – 6pm (with some exceptions).

June thru August: 4-5 days per week onsite for prep and performances. A detailed schedule will be discussed with candidates selected for interview.

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
