POSITION DETAILS

Brooklyn College invites applications for the Production and Client Relations Manager (Communications Publications Editorial Manager) position in the Office of Communications and Marketing. The Production and Client Relations Manager works with internal clients college-wide to oversee production process from intake to delivery to evaluation for all materials ensuring that they meet marketing goals/needs (multimedia, web, print) and that they are produced efficiently and effectively while aligning with college brand and strategic priorities. Reporting to the AVP, the Production and Client Relations Manager is responsible for managing the development and execution of hundreds of high-quality marketing materials annually and is the primary liaison between a large client base and the office’s marketing team.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure efficiency and effectiveness in meeting client marketing needs by establishing and managing workflow and production for all projects including but not limited to website content/graphics, email, social media, photography, videography, signage, print collateral, and all elements of student recruitment and fundraising campaigns
  • Arrange and lead client intake meetings with appropriate members of communications/marketing team to document goals and targets, create schedules, and prepare project briefs for each project/campaign
  • Maximize utilization of project management system currently in place by collaborating with full team to establish logical, efficient, and effective processes and workflow, schedules for all jobs/campaigns, and an annual schedule for the department
  • Work to identify, establish, and maintain an effective digital asset management system for the department
  • Work closely with all members of the communications and marketing team to ensure that appropriate staff members are assigned to project teams for campaigns initiated
  • by clients and those workloads are balanced
  • Contribute to a culture that values and maintains a high standard for client service
  • Review status of work in progress as needed ensuring all projects stay on schedule and report progress to clients at regular intervals; lead regular team production meetings
  • Contribute to an integrated marketing effort by sharing news and opportunities uncovered through work with client schools, departments, and offices
  • Develop effective ways to monitor and measure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of creative deliverables to ensure client goals are being met; include evaluation of all
  • projects as part of production process by conducting and/or managing market research initiatives/surveys as needed
  • Identify and manage external vendors as well as handle quality control issues related to vendors
  • Oversee trafficking throughout the process ensuring all parties required have reviewed and provided changes and/or approval
  • Supervise part-time staff, student employees, and interns as needed providing regular feedback and performing performance reviews
  • Hire and manage freelancers as needed to support full-time staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Vaccine Mandate

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree and six years’ related experience required.

Preferred
- Master’s Degree a plus
- Candidates must have at least 5-7 years of professional experience in marketing project management or production
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; diplomatic attitude;
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities in order to produce under tight deadlines with attention to detail.
- Experience in higher education or nonprofit institutions preferred.
- Proficiency in all relevant technology required.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
- Oversees implementation of communications programs and produces communications in all media to meet a variety of College needs
- Provides creative direction for publications and marketing materials, such as catalogs, annual reports, brochures, direct mail packages, print advertising and other marketing materials
- Works with College clientele (faculty, administrators, and student representatives) to understand their communications objectives, select appropriate messages, formats, and distribution methods, set production timelines, and establish appropriate editorial and design approaches
- Provides creative direction and supervision to external and/or internal creative resources such as writers, photographers, illustrators and graphic designers
- Ensures consistent application of standards and guidelines for College materials, such as graphic identity standards
- Manages production activities, including creating printing specifications and arranging procurement of services, managing work flows, and production schedules, and assuring a quality finished product
- Prepares sensitive and high-priority communications such as speeches for use by senior management
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$79,188 - $96,602; Salary commensurate with education and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
