Play the Game, Minimize the Stress: Tax Workshop for ALL
New York Foundation for the Arts
Remote

It has come time for everyone’s favorite part of the year: tax season. Do you find the process stressful and unnecessarily confusing? It’s not just you. Want someone who actually understands what it’s like to be in the arts to walk you through the basics in a clear – even visually compelling – way?
This workshop will cover the fundamentals. You’ll walk away with a concrete understanding of the things you can and should be responsible for (they’re not as complicated as you think), as well as the confidence to know when you’ve done enough and can give yourself permission to relax.
NYFA will tackle common questions for artists and creatives, such as:
- When does it make sense to get help, and why?
- What exactly is taxable income?
- How can I make sure the IRS views my artistic practice as a business, not a hobby?
Developed in partnership with Brass Taxes, join for your tax season made easy. During the session, Brass Taxes will have consultants answering individualized questions through Zoom’s Q&A feature. While you play this perplexing game once a year, they play it hundreds of times a year, and are here to help.
*While there will be time for participant questions, in the event you have an inquiry hyperspecific to your situation, the team will refer you to ways you can tackle these questions on an individual basis.
Please Note: This workshop will not be utilized as an advertisement, or promote any products or services from Brass Taxes. Rather, its purpose and intent is solely to serve and support NYFA’s artist community.
