Anthem to US invites you to create a contemporary anthem that reflects collective hopes, struggles, and untold histories. Up to 160 selected participants will embark on an immersive three-part writing workshop series guided by notable authors. The workshops will explore themes, song structures, and melodies across diverse styles.

Selected participants are required to attend one of two virtual lectures the weeks of February 19 and 26, 2024 (dates and times to be confirmed), and three in-person writing workshops between Monday, March 4, 2024, and Sunday, April 21, 2024 (dates and times to be confirmed).

At the end of the workshop series, eight participants will advance for consideration to be among the final three participants to collaborate with composers to set their finished lyrics to music.

The final three anthems will be judged and brought to life with a performance at Brooklyn Public Library and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

Aapplicants’ answers to these questions will be considered to select the participants in the writing workshop series. Oeople of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Applications are accepted until Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 11:59 pm (EDT). Limit of one (1) application per person; multiple entries by any one individual are void. Participants will be notified on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, if they have been selected to participate in the workshop series.
