For the month of March, STUDIOS 94 is offering twelve artists the chance to immerse themselves in our studio culture, free of charge. Designed to foster cross-cultural dialogue and creative experimentation, this one-month intensive grants artists full access to the facilities and a professional platform at 94 Gallery. This program is designed for artists of all mediums who value community, skill-sharing, and professional exhibition opportunities. They are seeking practitioners who are eager to engage with the Chiang Mai art scene, share their technical expertise through public workshops, and participate in a final group exhibition.
What’s Included:
Studio Access: Your own dedicated desk in our shared studio plus access to an additional shared workshop space. Residents enjoy 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM daily access to the building.
Community Amenities: Full use of all shared community areas, including a fully equipped kitchen, lounges, sofa relaxation areas, and a rooftop terrace overlooking the city.
Networking: Full access to our monthly members-only program, offering connection to a vibrant local and international creative community.
Workshop Hosting: Each artist will have the opportunity to host a workshop or event. They pair two artists per weekend day to either collaborate on a joint session or split the day for individual programming at 94 Gallery.
Public Exposure: A dedicated Open Studio day where the public is invited to engage with your work-in-progress and creative process.
Grand Finale: Participation in a 3-day group exhibition at our onsite 94 Gallery on Huay Kaew Road, featuring a hosted opening night event to mark the end of the program.
Requirements
Terms & Requirements:
Application Fee: 950 THB (Non-refundable).
Selection: 12 artists will be chosen based on their portfolio and proposal.
Responsibility: Selected artists are responsible for their own transport to/from Chiang Mai, accommodation, art materials, and daily living expenses (food/drink).
Timeline:
Applications Close: 20th February
Notification Date: 23rd February (All applicants will be notified via email).
Submission Requirements
To apply for the March Artist-in-Residence Program, please submit the following in a single PDF file (Max 10MB) or via our online application form:
* Artist Statement (Max 300 words): Tell us about your current practice, your creative background, and what you hope to explore or achieve during your month in Chiang Mai.
* Portfolio of Work: 5–10 high-quality images of recent work (produced within the last 3 years). Please include titles, dimensions, and mediums. For video/performance artists, please provide links to Vimeo/YouTube.
* CV / Resume: A brief overview of your artistic history, including any previous exhibitions or residencies.
* Workshop/Event Proposal (Brief): A short outline of a skill-share or creative workshop you would like to host at 94 Gallery. (e.g., “Intro to Charcoal Drawing,” “Creative Writing for Painters,” or a collaborative performance).
* Workshop Concept: A rough idea for a workshop / event and whether you prefer to host it solo or as a collaboration with another resident (150–200 words max).
* Proof of Application Fee: A screenshot or receipt of the 950 THB application fee payment.

Selection Criteria
The 12 artists will be selected based on:
* The quality and originality of the portfolio.
* The potential for the artist to benefit from a shared studio environment.
* The feasibility and engagement level of the proposed workshop/event.
* A commitment to being active and present in the studio throughout the month of March.
