______My name is Alison.
I have been bed-rotting in my tiny bedroom for days, scrolling obsessively on a feed that goes nowhere. I once had ambitions for projects and visions for art. I kicked all my ideas under my bed, along with last month’s dirty laundry and an army of empty take-out boxes.
Truth is, I’ve always had problems. A case of ‘executive dysfunction’, ‘task paralysis’. I’d delay drinking water, going to the bathroom, and going to sleep. I barely managed before. Now everything is going to sh*t.

______There are:
3 emails I need to write. 2 calls I need to make. 1 trip to the post office, which is too many blocks away.
5 deadlines that already passed. 4 open calls that I will miss.
I lose my apartment in a few weeks. My Visa expires in a few months. We turn thirty in a few years.
But I’m still here, chewing on finger-nails wide-eyed in the dark at 3am.

_______I’m not leaving this room. So you’ll have to come find me.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened. I will offer you a place beside me at this altar of paralysis, and we shall rot together as one.
For a week, Accent Sister’s gallery is my crusty dysfunctional bedroom. I will be bed-rotting for a live audience during the opening.
