NEW INC is a shared workspace and incubator program supporting a multidisciplinary community of individuals and small teams. Our year-long program runs September 2022-August 2023, and is designed to support creative practitioners as they pursue a sustainable practice or bring a new business to life. We are based in NYC, but welcome virtual participation.

WE ARE SEEKING: People in art, tech, design, science, or architecture looking to build or sustain their practices as they explore: extended realities, climate futures, internet-based art practice, monument and archive making, or new models for re-imagining social and public space through design and architecture.

WHAT’S NEW FOR YEAR 9:

📣 Return to In-Person: NEW INC has found a new in-person home and will return to coworking space! Memberships types include Dedicated Desk, Hot Desk, and fully virtual options.

🖥️ Virtual Offering: To expand our offering to a greater community of people, we will continue to offer our programming activities virtually throughout next year.

Y9 is organized into five Tracks:

  • Art & Code: Redefining cultural and digital landscapes through artist-led research and projects, in partnership with Rhizome.
  • Creative Science: Exploring climate futures at the junction of art and science.
  • Collective Abundance: Re-imagining social and public space to hold the many through design and architecture.
  • Extended Realities: Expanding the artistic potentials for technology to blur the physical and digital worlds.
  • Future Memory: Rewriting dominant narratives to build collective power.

Requirements

  • Participation in NEW INC’s program is a year-long commitment, Sept 2022-August 2023. While NEW INC journeys vary member-to-member, average participation in our program looks like 4-8 hours of virtual engagement with an option to cowork up to 8-days a month.
  • Applicants must be US citizens or have the ability to secure a visa for conducting business in the US.
  • Applicants should be aligned with NEW INC’s values of Collectivism, Experimentation, Interdisciplinary Collaboration, Stewardship, and Justice
  • Membership is not open to students / people enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs. However, people completing dissertation work as part of a PhD program may be considered.
