The Public Theater is seeking a Major Gift Coordinator to support the needs of the Major Gift team of The Public Theater. The Major Gift Coordinator will play an integral role in helping The Public meet its annual major gift fundraising goals during the largest comprehensive campaign in the organization’s history. The Major Gift Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Major Gifts, Major Gift Officers and the Advisor, Leadership Giving to manage donor and gift data in the Tessitura database, track important deadlines, assist with expense reporting, and conduct prospect research as needed. The Major Gift Coordinator will collaborate with other members of the Development Department on projects as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document donor activity in Tessitura, including recording actions, inputting data, and producing regular fundraising performance reports.
  • Provide direct daily support to the Major Gift team.
  • Track activity and ongoing project deadlines.
  • File expense reports
  • Gift Processing.
  • Produce agendas and briefing documents.
  • Assist in scheduling and supporting donor meetings.
  • Conduct prospect research as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned, including preparing correspondence, acknowledgment letters, reports and proposals; documenting processes; and participating in special events and campaign activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of work experience, Development office experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen and express ideas and thoughts effectively.
  • Warm, professional demeanor; positive and helpful attitude; strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to interact positively with a wide range of constituencies in person, via telephone, on email and in writing
  • Solid judgment and the ability to both self-initiate and ask for guidance as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on projects and be proactive and solution oriented.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity and demonstrated judgment.
  • Familiarity with Tessitura (or similar relational database); fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work as part of a small, highly efficient team in a fast-paced and dynamic atmosphere.
  • All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes.
  • Willingness to work within a team environment.
