The Program: Longform is a month long, multi-layered residency and mentorship program that foregrounds experimental and continued education outside of traditional systems of learning. Artists’ growth is continual, essential, and happens at all stages of their careers. Longform provides time and space for artists from diverse backgrounds and points in their practice to grow conceptually, in material knowledge, and through intentional shared experiences that build relationships. At its foundation, Longform provides the support and structure needed for experimentation to flourish and reflection and learning to take hold.

Over the course of four weeks, residents will work with two core faculty Nina Könnemann and Jay Chung to have continued conversations, reading groups, and shared experiences as a cohort. Through mentorship the core faculty will work alongside residents and provide a strong foundation for experimentation. In addition, discipline specific and conceptual workshops will happen throughout the three weeks to introduce artists to new skills, ideas and materials. Residents will also have access to Ox-Bow’s studios (metals, ceramics, and print) and have the opportunity to work with and learn from our knowledgeable studio managers who are all working artists. Visiting Artists will be present each week to share their experiences and conduct studio visits and engage in conversation with residents. Confirmed faculty and visiting artists include: Alivia Zivich, Ficus Interfaith, and Tony Lewis.

The Cohort: With each cohort, we are committed to creating an inclusive community with diverse perspectives to live, learn, and create alongside one another. Ox-Bow is a place that has thrived from intergenerational and interdisciplinary learning.

The Longform is ideal for artists 21+ who have established a studio practice for 5+ years. A BFA or MFA is not required. The program is inspired by alternative learning models, low-res MFA programs and residency programs in order to create an intensive experience that both challenges and nurtures artists and their practices.

Experience: Longform is an intimate experience of Ox-Bow’s campus. Attendees enjoy private accommodations in winterized dorms, three healthy meals per day created by our talented kitchen staff under the direction of Culinary Director, Nicholas Jirasek, and access to specialized studios and equipment. You can learn more about our campus here.

Cost + Funding: Tuition for Longform is $5750 and registration is open now. Longform offers a number of full and partial scholarships to those with financial need and BIPOC artists.
