Literary Consultant

Barrington Stage Company is seeking a Literary Consultant to join our team for a six-month contract. BSC is a not-for-profit professional theatre company in the Berkshires with a three-fold mission: to produce top notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to engage our community with vibrant, inclusive educational outreach programs.

Duties:
Scouting, reading, evaluating scripts for possible development
Attending readings and productions, both virtual and in-person, on behalf of the Artistic Team
Reporting back on plays evaluated
Attending periodic Artistic Team virtual meetings and virtual staff meetings,
Representing BSC at certain events, both virtual and in-person

Requirements

Skills:
Connections to, knowledge of, and relationships with emerging and BIPOC writers and writing groups
Passion for new works and exciting voices in the theatre
Previous experience as part of a literary team
Experience in developmental dramaturgy, preferred
Location near NYC, preferred

This position is a part-time, off-site contract for June 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. The position pays $1,500/month.
