A4 is seeking a talented, detail-oriented, and mission-driven person with excellent organizational and communication skills for the Grantmaking Programs Manager position. You’ll work directly with the Programs Director and the Executive Director to ensure that A4’s local and national grantmaking programs to artists and arts organizations run smoothly.
A4 is growing as an organization, and we are looking to expand our current grantmaking programs. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading new projects and has experience building arts programs from the ground up.
Responsibilities Include:
- Creating and evaluating successful grant programs for artists and arts organizations: overall grantmaking strategy, program & application design, panel development & execution, and impact assessment.
- Managing the review process of various grant and fellowship programs,: including securing and coordinating with the review panel and ensuring timely notification of decisions to applicants.
- Ensuring compliance between A4 and awarded applicants regarding contracts, legal and regulatory issues, deliverables, reporting, payment, etc.; and maintaining clear communication between all parties.
- Collaborating with the Programs Director to set up awarded applicants for success in the projects they undertake and guiding them through the entire grant cycle.
- Participating in meetings, information sessions, and research projects related to the grants as required.
- Working with the Executive Director, Operations Associate, and Bookkeeper to ensure that all information and financial records related to grants are maintained in accordance with best practices and that payments are made in a timely manner.
- Assisting with other programs, projects, and fundraising initiatives as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:
The Grantmaking Programs Manager is a full-time position and will be compensated with an annual salary of $60,000-$65,000, reporting to the Programs Director. They will receive a benefits package that includes:

Location: Hybrid - Remote & two days per week at a dog-friendly Manhattan office
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Has a passion for the arts and the role they play in fostering a vibrant and healthy society. A demonstrated commitment to the arts and/or Asian American issues is preferred.
- 3+ years of grantmaking experience (required).
- Knowledge of best practices and legal regulations around grantmaking and grant management.
- Familiarity with Google Apps, Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new applications easily (e.g. Trello, application management software, Neon CRM).
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Able to lead and manage multifaceted projects.
- Comfortable meeting and implementing deadlines with public-facing programs.
- Ability to work on a small team.
- Passion for learning and desire to support A4’s growth.
