The Field, a leading nonprofit arts services organization dedicated to providing strategic services to thousands of performing and media artists in New York City and beyond, seeks a Finance Director to join our team.
The Finance Director plays an integral role in how we orchestrate, deliver, and account for the services we provide to the arts community, our funders, and government agencies. Reporting to the Executive Director, the individual in this role will be a strategic thought-partner responsible for financial planning and operations, financial oversight of our Fiscal Sponsorship Program, and financial analysis and reporting. The Financial Director bears responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting, audit coordination and human resources functions. Ideally, we seek someone who is creative, has a deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and a keen eye for details.
MINIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must perform in-person financial-related activities in and around New York City, as needed
Ability to translate financial concepts to—and effectively collaborate with—programmatic and fundraising colleagues
A track record of grants management
Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software
Successful track record of setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice as evidenced by their own practice and growth
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree
Previous experience overseeing human resources functions
Experience managing a Fiscal Sponsorship Program
Google Suite, QuickBooks, Excel familiarity
ABOUT THIS POSITION
This is a full-time, non-exempt, largely remote position based in, or closely situated to, New York City. The Field offers a competitive salary, as well as a benefits package that includes health, dental and vision plans, vacation, holiday and sick time. Flexible working hours can be arranged.
