Position Overview and Goals
The role of the Finance Associate is critical for the day-to-day financial operations of Brooklyn Arts Council. The responsibilities include the recording of financial data in QuickBooks Online and CoAdvantage payroll to properly record financial activity. She/He will understand the impact of accurately recording accounting entries into QuickBooks Online.
The Finance Associate is expected to conduct routine accurate financial transactions in a reliable manner within prescribed timelines. For this reason, the Finance Associate will be required to prepare, administer, and monitor expenditures, run and record payroll entries, in addition to record revenue entries from Stripe/Give Lively. The Finance Associate must be willing and able to work on projects independently as well as work in a team setting.
Responsibilities
• Running Monthly Close Financial Reports
o Cash Flow
o Bank Reconciliations
o Update budge to actual reports
• Check Run- Bill Payments
o The recording of financial entries in QuickBooks online within prescribed timelines
o Handle billing and payments with online banking; handle vendor payments with care; make appropriate corresponding entries into QuickBooks
• Human Resources –
o Process payroll for BAC with CoAdvantage payroll system
o Make appropriate payroll entries into Quickbooks Online
• Fiscal Sponsorship Program
o Track incoming and outgoing payments to Fiscal Sponsees on a monthly basis
o Reconcile Stripe Payments on a monthly basis into Quickbooks
Requirements
Desired Skills & Expertise• Background & experience in nonprofit finance, bookkeeping, entering accounting entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries
• Experience in QuickBooks Online Required
• Experience in Stripe/Give Lively preferred
• Experience and/or familiarity with Microsoft Teams
• Knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, Vlookup, and other advanced functions
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Public Policy preferred
• Ability to treat confidential information appropriately, to prioritize multiple tasks, and attention to details are crucial
• An interest in supporting and learning about the arts and arts education in Brooklyn
