Overview
• Works closely with the Curator on exhibition planning, production and logistics, acting as line producer for all visual art exhibitions that are part of the 2021 season at LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island

Production
• Works with the artists, curators and studio managers to understand production, and technical needs of each exhibition – audio, visual, lighting
• Sources all material and equipment needs either via LMCC’s inventory or through outside vendors
• With LMCC staff, exhibition artists and curators, develops detailed production schedules for each exhibition and oversees install and de-install

Logistics
• Arranges and coordinates all inbound and outbound shipping/ transportation of artworks
• Handles artwork including packing, shipping, hanging, cleaning etc
• Facilitates and tracks all loan agreements, condition reports and checklist paperwork
• Creates instructions for opening and closing of the galleries by the Visitor Engagement Associates (VEAs)

Finance
• With Curator, tracks spending against the budget and make sure that the projects remain on budget
• Processes exhibition-related invoices and payments, and tracks project budgets

Staffing
• With Curator, identifies, hires, and manages all installation and de-installation labor and additional over hire

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff members
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workload and meet deadlines, as well as manage details while being graceful and diplomatic.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to foster collaboration within internal and external teams and to establish and maintain productive communication and workflow

Dates: Feb – June 2021, starting part time and increasing hours until full time in May. Deinstall will take place in early November and ideally the candidate would be able to return to plan this in October and manage it in November 2021.

Since 1973, LMCC has been the champion for independent artists in New York City and the cultural life force of Lower Manhattan. LMCC seeks a part-time Exhibitions Coordinator to join immediately. Reporting to the Curator, this person will have primary responsibility executing all aspects of LMCC’s 2021 Exhibition Series at LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island. The Exhibitions Coordinator will work collaboratively with all members of the Public Programs and Finance & Operations teams.
