Dictee: Call for Submissions

To mark the 40th anniversary of the publication of Theresa Hak Kyung Cha’s seminal work “Dictee” in September 1982, The Evergreen Review calls for submissions of creative and critical responses to this innovative and searing book about exile, migration, history, and language. In honor of its hybrid character, we are looking for responses not only in words but also in images, or a mix of both.

We are open to submissions from everyone, but we especially welcome submissions from Asian/American women and feminists. Please limit your submissions to 1500 words and/or 10 images (captioned).

The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2022.

Five submissions will be chosen for publication in Fall/Winter 2022 issue of The Evergreen Review. Submissions are to be sent in PDF to Porochista Khakpour at porochista@gmail.com and Jee Leong Koh at jeeleong@evergreenreview.com. Please provide a brief cover letter and bio.
