Development Manager

Full time / $60,000 - $70,000 annually / Theater Breaking Through Barriers / New York, NY

Theater Breaking Through Barriers (TBTB) is seeking to hire a Development Manager. Reporting to and in partnership with the Artistic/Executive Director and the Board of Directors, the Development Manager will spearhead fundraising efforts of the company to help sustain its growth. As a new full-time (hybrid) position in the organization, the Development Manager will have the opportunity build the development function, to grow and enhance the organization’s strong base of foundation and government support, and to develop and build its individual giving, including establishing major gift and bequest programs.

Theater Breaking Through Barriers is the only professional Off-Broadway theater organization dedicated to advancing artists and developing audiences of people with disabilities. To accomplish this, it is imperative that we reach out to all members of our society, so they know our voice and realize that we serve and represent them. Activities include Mainstage productions, workshop productions, developing new short plays for live and virtual theater, readings, and advocacy on behalf of artists with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company’s annual fundraising plan
• Conduct prospect research to identify potential individual and institutional supporters
• Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, government agencies and elected officials through cultivation and writing and editing proposals
• Build and manage the implementation of the contributor database and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
• Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors
• Create and execute a strategy to grow and sustain the base of individual donors
• Oversee the organization of special events
• Track deadlines, proposals and reports for all supporters

Requirements

Qualifications
• BA (required)
• Three to Five-plus years’ experience in development
• Interest in/experience with non-profit theater and/or disability organizations
• Demonstrated use of social media platforms
• Experience in grant writing
• Excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
• Knowledge of donor management and fundraising systems

Salary & Benefits– $60,000 - $70,000 plus benefits stipend
