Curatorial Residency at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York

Application period: March 1 - April 15, 2022

Residency Dates: September 1 - October 31, 2022 or November 1 - December 31, 2022

Artis, in partnership with the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP), announces an open call opportunity for New York-based curators or writers with curatorial experience to apply for a two month funded research residency at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP), an international residency program based in Brooklyn, New York.

The residency offers an opportunity for an individual to build contacts with art practitioners and cultural organizations from Israel, while immersed in an international arts community at ISCP, and to develop a curatorial project informed by these experiences. The residency is intended for an enthusiastic and self-driven curator, or writer with curatorial experience, who is looking to expand the scope of a concrete research topic. Artis will work closely with the curator-in-residence to help advance their research and make connections to the arts community in Israel.

The participating curator-in-residence will be provided with a private workspace at ISCP during the residency period. Meetings, studio visits, and other group activities that are part of the residency will be organized. This includes virtual studio visits with artists from Israel organized by Artis, meetings with Artis staff, and professional development opportunities and programs that are part of ISCP’s residency program and will be held virtually and in-person. The curator-in-residence will develop a final project to culminate the residency, which will be worked on in close collaboration with Artis staff. The project, which is developed and supported by Artis, will be shared publicly on the Artis website or other channels. The participant will receive the studio at ISCP and programming free of cost, and will receive an honorarium from Artis for their participation in the residency.

Requirements

Mid-career or established curators or writers with curatorial experience, who are based in New York, may apply. Participants are expected to spend at least 20 hours a week on work and research related to the residency. This includes conducting 4-6 studio visits with artists and arts professionals from Israel, and other programming associated with the residency. Participants will have three months after the residency end date to complete their final curatorial project.

Application Instructions

Before applying, please review program details, FAQs, past participants, and their final curatorial projects. Curators and writers with curatorial experience who are based in New York may apply online here by April 15, 2022 at 11:59pm EST. Applicants will be notified of decisions in July 2022.
