The Costume Coordinator oversees the costume production process from the designer’s rendering/costume plot to performance, working in close collaboration with designers and choreographers.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
Conduct costume fittings for all Company and BalletMet2 productions, including fittings as needed for all guests and Academy performers.
Serve as assistant to visiting designers. Design opportunities may be available.
Produce alteration and craft notes for Costume Shop staff.
Source and purchase production related and costume studio supplies.
Source and/or pull rehearsal garments as needed.
Create internal paperwork for choreographers and designers and collaborate with Wardrobe Team to create show paperwork.
Attend all studio costume run-throughs, technical rehearsals, and production meetings.
Ensure all costume, hair, and makeup work is being completed to organizational and artistic standards.
Collaborate with other BalletMet departments on special projects as assigned by the Costume and Shoe Supervisor.
Take part in maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe work environment and maintain confidentiality.
Contribute to the overall success of BalletMet by maintaining productive and professional relationships with staff, company members, guest artists, and the public and approach duties with a positive attitude.
Have a superior knowledge of costuming and keep up with current methods, practices, and techniques.
Experience working dance costuming and IATSE and AGMA unions preferred but not required.
Sewing, costume craftwork, and laundry experience preferred but not required.
Other duties as assigned.
