Ars Nova seeks an innovative marketer, an artful designer, and a social media marvel to join us as a Content Creator. The Content Creator amplifies their artists into the wider world and connects a new generation of audiences directly to a dynamic community of boundary-pushing, genre-defying artists.

Ars Nova exists to discover, develop and launch singular theater, comedy and music artists who are in the early stages of their careers. POSITION SUMMARY:
Ars Nova seeks a creative dynamo and nimble collaborator to join us as their part-time Content Creator.  The Content Creator serves as a key member of the marketing and communications team and supports Ars Nova’s artists by creating engaging digital and print assets to promote their shows, build vibrant audiences, and enhance awareness of their work, alongside institutional brand-building for Ars Nova. The Content Creator will drive online brand engagement in a way that inspires a digital native audience to seek out live entertainment.

The role will report to the Brand Director and will partner closely with the Artistic Team and Ars Nova’s community of artists. The position works appx. 30 hours per week.

Requirements

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
The responsibilities, competencies, and expectations outlined below are representative, not exhaustive. Responsibilities may shift as needed to best align with organizational needs.

  • Create engaging and creative marketing content for both Off-Broadway productions and one-night discovery/development programs, including key art, digital assets for email, the website and social media platforms, postcards, show programs, and other materials as needed.
  • Partner with Ars Nova’s artists to create engaging social media content to amplify their work and market their shows, with a focus on short-form video.
  • Devise creative guerilla marketing strategies to meet new audiences offline to engage with Ars Nova;
  • Partner with the Brand Director to create and lead strategies to engage first-time audiences in deeper ways.
  • Drive integrated digital content strategies that connect Ars Nova’s social media presence with their digital platform, Supra. Collaborate closely with Artistic and Producing teams to find innovative ways these channels can amplify one another, maximizing visibility, community engagement, and audience reach.
  • Provide analysis on social media, email marketing, and digital ad performance to guide strategy and identify opportunities and challenges.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have an eye for great design and expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design software; 
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of MailChimp as well as Meta Business Suite;
  • You are comfortable in the language of vertical video, thrive on TikTok and Instagram,  and are excited to be at the forefront of new platforms to position Ars Nova at the cutting edge of social media marketing;
  • Your aesthetic/taste generally aligns with their brand and you can balance a strong personal aesthetic sensibility with an existing brand and style guide;
  • You are an adept project manager and organizer, who can balance a variety of projects and goals while keeping an eye on the big picture;
  • You love live entertainment, and will be passionate about supporting theater, comedy, and music artists in promoting their work.
  • You share a commitment to anti-racism and creating and maintaining an inclusive environment, are excited about joining efforts to make Ars Nova a more just and equitable place to work and make work, and have the ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds;
  • You thrive in all-out, go-big-or-go-home environments and can move quickly to adjust to changing needs and priorities.

BONUS IF:

  • You have training and/or experience in digital marketing. Experience for an arts, creative, or forward-thinking organization is a plus;
  • You are relentlessly creative and curious;
  • You have experience with videography/photography, PatronManager/Salesforce, and/or Asana.

AN EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITY:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $25.

Ars Nova is based in NYC, and this position will require regular onsite, in-person activity (including some evenings, weekends and holidays), so the applicant should intend to reside in the greater NYC area. This position is primarily based out of Ars Nova’s building at 511 West 54th St. Hybrid work is possible to some extent, depending on programming schedule and can be discussed during the interview process; however, this role should expect to regularly work in person.

HIRING PROCESS:
Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis through November 12. Advancing candidates will be invited to a first round interview with Ars Nova’s Brand Director Sabrina Ryan. Second round interviews will be conducted in person with both Sabrina and Managing Director Mac Ingram, and finalists may be asked to meet with additional Ars Nova staff members as needed. References will then be checked and an offer is expected to be made by early December, with a start date soon thereafter.
