College Artistic Manager

Description

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Artistic Operations, the College Artistic Manager will be primarily responsible for coordinating and supporting artistic projects and programs in the College, including, but not limited to, guest artist activities and residencies, special performance opportunities and partnerships, and items related to event production. The position requires excellent communication and collaboration with various departments, including Concert Operations, Marketing and Communications, and Advancement, and will also serve as an integral liaison with institutional partners, including Opus 3 Artists and the San Francisco Symphony, Opera and Ballet. The position will assist with the scheduling and organization of the Artistic Administration office, and ensure that projects and tasks are completed in a timely manner and at the highest levels. The ideal candidate for the position is also passionate about working with musicians and supporting their artistic goals and projects.

Job Duties

• Serve as primary liaison with guest artists and/or artist management for activities and residencies and create contracts for guest artist visit
• Maintain constant communication with the Advancement and Marketing & Communications departments in promoting guest artist visits and special performances to SFCM donors and concert patrons
• Manage performance calendar for the school year with the Associate Dean of Artistic Administration and schedule performances with Large Ensemble and Concert -Operations departments
• Work closely with the Concert Operations, Production and Recording staff in ensuring that all logistics and production elements for major events and concerts are executed at the highest levels
• Assist with and coordinate activities related to SFCM’s Emerging Black Composers Project
• Serve as a primary liaison with Opus 3 Artists in managing its guest artist visits and projects
• Assist with artistic planning and coordination of special institutional performance activities including donor and partnership events
• Support SFCM’s efforts in presenting a diverse representation of guest artists and projects to the SFCM community
• Supervise student workers serving as Artist Liaisons
• Monitor budgets related to guest artist activities
• Maintain project management timelines and ensure that deadlines are met
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor of Music is required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in arts administration
• Thorough knowledge of the professional field, repertoire, and arts management firms a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with various constituencies of the SFCM community and institutional partners
• Successful project management experience and ability to problem solve
• Strong organizational skills with extreme attention to detail
• Flexible hours; ability to work frequent nights/weekends for concerts/events
