Civil Art is seeking an Editorial and Programming Intern for the Spring-Summer 2026 semester (with mentorship from Nina Chkareuli - curator and founder of Hot Coffee Conversations). This position is ideal for students and recent graduates interested in art, writing, editing, and cultural production who want hands-on experience in creating cultural narratives based on the work of the leading arts professionals. While this is an unpaid internship, students will receive school credit and—most importantly—mentorship, professional development, and access to a thriving community of API artists, creatives, and industry professionals.

Hours: 15-18 hours per week (flexible)
Compensation: Unpaid; school credit available
Key Responsibilities
- Editorial Coordination: Liaising with artists, writers, curators, and cultural practitioners to support the preparation and publication of conversations, interviews, and written features
- Content Research: Identifying relevant artists, exhibitions, and cultural initiatives for potential interviews, discussions, and editorial collaborations
- Newsletter & Communications: Supporting the preparation and distribution of newsletters and other communications to maintain engagement with the platform’s audience
- Social Media & Outreach: Assisting with research and preparation of content for social media features highlighting artists, exhibitions, and cultural discourse
- Archive & Database Management: Maintaining organized records of contributors, conversations, publications, and related project materials
- General Team Support: Participating in editorial meetings, contributing ideas for future conversations and collaborations, and assisting with day-to-day operational tasks

Requirements
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Students pursuing degrees in Art History, Arts Management and Creative Writing are preferred but not required
- Strong writing, editorial, and communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote setting.
- Critical thinking and a strong interest in community building.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), Google Workspace, and presentation platforms such as Pitch (or similar) is strongly preferred.
