Requirements
Mabel - to play mid 20s, Korean, a survivor on the precipice of a psychotic break but REFUSING, to give up. Speaking Korean not a must, but very much preferred. Her eyes tell you all you need to know, her determination, her pain. Also happens to be a “Korean Shaman” only understood by her great grandmother with this gift. She is completely estranged from her high-achieving affluent family for being different, labeled as selfish, irresponsible. Put on a mission by a Being larger than us all, to help the grieving spirits of a mother and daughter, who may not even be aware of their own condition and how much grief they’re still holding. The character does deal with suicide, please be aware.
Soo - to play 40s, Korean, female presenting, Mother to calliope, or at least at times it feels like that’s all she is. MUST speak Korean. Blames herself entirely for her and Calliope’s state. The character is a ghost that Mabel can see, but she should not feel like one, she should feel like a living breathing person, who is stuck, not only in her situation but in her guilt and mind, and her only escape, her only feeling of worth, is Calliope. There will be one scene where Soo hits Calliope, but absolutely no contact, or even remotely close to contact will be made, we will use camera angles to hide it completely.
