“Don’t Come Home Too Late” is an NYU thesis coming-of-age short film told through the eyes of Callie, a queer Chinese-American girl, who struggles to amend the complicated relationship with her mother as she’s about to leave home for college.

They are casting for Callie, a 17-year-old girl who grew up in NYC with her childhood best friend and her girlfriend of three years. She decides to go to college in LA while everyone around her stays in NYC, so she begins to prioritize spending time with her best friend and girlfriend over her mother.

They’re also casting for Mei, a single mother and who’s priority has always been Callie. Callie is all Mei has and when Callie decides to move to LA for college, Mei’s fears of loneliness and being forgotten by her daughter start to surface, and is more insistent about spending time together.

Requirements

Mei - Actress for Mei must be Asian, fluent in Mandarin, aged 40-55.

Callie - Actress for Callie must be Asian, with an intermediate fluency and understanding of Mandarin, aged 18-15
