The New York City Department of Transportation Art program (NYC DOT Art) is seeking artists for NYC DOT’s annual Car-Free Earth Day event. NYC DOT will host Car-Free Earth Day on Saturday, April 20, transforming NYC streets into active and attractive public spaces. As part of the event programming, NYC DOT Art is seeking proposals for artwork to beautify the event routes in either one-day art installations or digital illustrations for aluminum signage.
Selected artists for one-day installations will receive up to $10,000 to cover all project costs and will be responsible for installing and de-installing the installation on the day of the event, coordinating with NYC DOT throughout the project, being available to monitor the installation on site, and providing an engineering memo.
Selected artist for digital illustrations for aluminum signage will receive up to $5,000 to complete conceptual designs for NYC DOT approval, and once approved provide final digital design files for 10 to 15 final designs. NYC DOT will print and install signs along Car-Free Earth Day event routes.
