Irish Arts Center (IAC) is a national and international home for artists and audiences of all backgrounds. ABOUT THIS POSITION

IAC is seeking a Box Office Manager to join the inaugural Front-of-House team for the New Irish Arts Center, opening in December. As the primary point of contact for our guests, FOH will play a vital role for ensuring a warm, welcoming, enjoyable, and safe experience for all audiences at all IAC events.

The ideal candidates will exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, perform well under pressure, and be creative, on-their-feet problem solvers, in addition to being comfortable with technology and ticketing systems.

This position is part-time with variable hours, depending upon programming and event operational needs and reports to the Audience Services Manager. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as venue schedule requires. In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Execute immediate pre-show ticketing duties including: working with customers at the Box Office desk, collecting complete and accurate data from customers, ensuring quality data maintenance, distributing Will Call tickets, and troubleshooting any day-of-show issues.
  • Advise and assist with the implementation, reporting, and generating of event reports using the Tessitura ticketing system.
  • Preparation of box office and staff prior to events (ensure batch ticket printout, order racking, GA assignment, emergency seat holds, communication with fellow FOH staff and IAC staff, etc.).
  • Along with Audience Services Manager, oversees merchandise sales and inventory.
  • Complete end-of-shift reporting duties.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies to keep a well-stocked, clean, and organized box office.
  • Welcome guests in a polite and friendly manner.
  • Informing guests about the location of the restrooms, refreshments, and exits.
  • Tending to guests’ comfort and assisting them with any questions or problems.
  • Enforcing event rules and relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Part-time position starting November 29th. Pay is $18/hour. Typical shifts are 4 to 5 hours per event and weekly schedule can range from 2 to 6 shifts.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Box Office experience.
  • Knowledge of the Tessitura system is strongly preferred.
  • Management experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Familiarity with POS systems a plus.
  • Candidate should have cash handling experience.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and communicate seating locations and directions.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers onsite.
  • Ability to treat all guests, staff, and clients in a respectful and inclusive manner.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Work in a performance space is a plus and love of the arts is a must.
