Organizational Summary:
Playwrights Horizons is a writer’s theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary U.S. playwrights, composers and lyricists, and to the production of their new work.

Reports to:
Box Office Manager

Position Summary:
The Box Office Associate position provides exceptional customer service to all Playwrights Horizons audience members. The associate is a front-line team member, regularly interacting with customers, and providing for their needs. This position will greet new people. This is a part-time position requiring day, evening, and weekend shifts. The pay rate is $20 per hour, and the associate can expect to be offered an average of up to 10-20 hours per week during the producing season.

Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assist customers with purchase decisions, and resolve customer conflicts with guidance from Box Office Manager as needed
* Process phone and in-person orders using the Tessitura CRM platform
* Assist with walk-up sales,ill call tickets and troubleshooting any ticketing issues in a professional manner
* Maintain up to date knowledge of productions, ticket offerings, and policies
* Collect complete and accurate data from customers, ensuring quality data maintenance
* Follow proper cash handling procedures and reconcile daily transactions
* Maintain a positive attitude and a professional demeanorContribute to the environment of the box office in a manner that is conducive to customer service, equity, and safety
* Train to step in as an emergency house manager
* Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of prior box office experience, preferably in a performing arts or live entertainment setting; other customer service experience a plus
  • Knowledge of ticketing systems, specifically Tessitura, strongly preferred
  • Ability to maintain consistent part-time schedule, covering evening and weekend shifts
  • Ability to remain calm in a busy work environment and be a team player
  • Able to maintain a kind, professional demeanor when interacting with patrons and guests
  • Love of theater and sense of humor are a plus!
