Powered by Bertha and with the support of many supporters and partners, AXS Lab, through AXS Film Fund, provides funding to documentary filmmakers and nonfiction new media creators of color living with disabilities. Awards are up to $10,000 each, depending on project need. The deadline to apply for our 2024 cycle is July 31st 11:59pm Eastern.

This program is for creators of color in documentary filmmaking or nonfiction new media who identify as living with a disability. They fund:

  • Feature length documentary films (a run time of 45 mins or longer), preferably led by a person of color who identifies as living with a disability.
  • Nonfiction new media projects, preferably led by a person of color who identifies as living with a disability.

Theyseek to bring visibility to creators who are oftentimes overlooked. While they prefer that a person of color living with a disability is a key contributor to the project, they welcome diverse teams to apply. They will award three to five creators with grants of up to $10,000 each to assist them in completing their projects in any stage of production.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for our grant:
