The Move to Change Residency is an extension of MODArts Dance Collective’s (MADC) annual Move to Change Dance Festival. This free residency is an equitable space for BIPOC dancers and choreographers ages 18+ to foster a culture of belonging where all BIPOC artists are supported and given resources, access to studio space, and time to focus on their creative process in a communal setting consisting of mindfulness, mobility, Modern (Horton, Graham, and Dunham) technique class, composition exploration, and round table discussion with writing prompts. The 4 - Saturday residency + public sharing will be in October from 12-4pm at Grace Congregational Church of Harlem, 310 W 139th St, New York, NY 10030.

Requirements

This residency encompasses artists at different career stages, from high school/college students transitioning into young professionals to artists with 20+ years in the dance field. Interested artists are invited to complete a free application for participation by 11:59PM on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
