Associate Director, Individual Giving

The Public Theater is seeking an Associate Director of Individual Giving who will report to the Director of Individual Giving. As the Associate Director of Individual Giving, you will work to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors for The Public Theater with a focus on strategies to attract new mid-level prospects and to upgrade current donors’ level of support. In addition, you will assist in the management of our Partner, Young Partner, and Supporter membership programs designed to foster and nurture long-term, meaningful relationships between The Public Theater and its donors.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Membership Manager and the Patron Services Associate
  • Manages and oversees the daily administrative tasks for donor stewardship including fulfillment of benefits, acknowledgment letters, thank you notes, mailings, communications, event invitations, and Playbill recognition. Ensure an excellent donor experience.
  • Oversees the Partners Desk and Supporters Desk customer service channels. Ensures thorough, accurate, and timely responses to all donor requests. Demonstrates exemplary customer service in all exchanges.
  • Manage the renewal mailing process including setting the timeline, building extractions, managing lists, working with key stakeholders, and overseeing the merging and mailing of letters.
  • Project manage the End of Year and Shakespeare in the Park acquisition campaigns. Work with other teams to create the timeline, craft messaging, set segmentation, project goals, track on results, and debrief.
  • Partner with Director of Individual Giving to track on each of Individual Giving’s 6 revenue lines towards fiscal year goals.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Individual Giving on Young Partner Board governance.
  • Support high-level strategy for creating a robust donor pipeline.
  • Liaise with the Call Center Managers and Call Center to ensure adherence to standards of customer service. Serve as point of contact for Call Center representatives for any elevated customer service issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current donors and prospects via phone calls, ongoing written contact, personalized emails, and personal invitations to events.
  • Oversee the Development Department’s hold codes for tickets. Approve holds at season set-up and decide holds needed for event evenings. Support ticketing over customer service channels.
  • Collaborate with Advancement Services Team to set and monitor data standards in Tessitura.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience with proven analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important.
  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels, remaining proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform complex administrative tasks with only general supervision.
  • Must be exceedingly well organized and flexible.
  • Experience with Tessitura is preferred.
  • Knowledge of theater and the arts in NYC a plus
